JAPANESE WORKS OF ART

The Japanese Works of Art Department specialises in the sale of fine items from Japan, spanning a rich history of artistic craftsmanship. The current market for Japanese Works of Art is growing quickly, and our aim is to bring culturally significant and highly sought after items to light, attracting collectors, dealers, and institutions interested in preserving or acquiring part of Japan's rich artistic heritage. 

 

Traditional Japanese Paintings: Hanging scrolls, folding screens and hand-painted albums depicting landscapes, actors, women. 
Ceramics and Pottery: Antique and Contemporary Japanese ceramics, including fine porcelain such as Imari adn Kakiemon
Sculpture and Metalwork: Works in bronze, gilt-metal and wood, including, sculptures, statues, samurai armor and fittings and ornamental objects such as vases and incense burners. 
Textiles and Costumes: Kimono, Obi and other traditional garments, along with embroidered fabrics, textiles and accessories.
Woodblock Prints and Books: Woodblock prints, illustrated books, calligraphy, showcasing japan's unique printmaking traditions and literary history. 
Furniture and Decorative Arts: Fine lacquerware, netsuke and other ornamental objects made from materials such as wood or jade. 
Samurai Objects: Items related to the Samurai culture, including swords, armour, fittings and ceremonial objects with historical and cultural importance.
