As there is currently no in-person bidding at our Wimbledon saleroom, a good way to buy with us is by leaving absentee commission bids.
This enables you to leave the maximum value that you would like to bid for a specific lot with the auctioneer and the saleroom clerk. They will then use this value to bid on your behalf, and in the absence of other competitive bids secure the lot for the lowest price possible.
If two bids of equal value are received, preference will always be given to the bid that was left first.
First click the “Register to Bid” button on our homepage. If you don’t have an account with us then you will need to click the “Register” at the top of the page.
You can then go to the catalogue and click on your lot of interest. From here you can leave an Autobid. Our system will automatically bid on your behalf up to the amount you specify against competitive bids, here in our live sale. Your bids will appear as live internet bids to the auctioneer and they will not be aware of your maximum bid at any time.
Check online commission bids by going to ‘My Account - My Bids’. You can also amend or delete bids from that page too.
Once registered with an account, and having read the terms and conditions, one can follow the auction and bid live.
If you are planning to participate in live bidding, it is wise to register to bid long before the auction date and make a note of lots of interest.
Please remember that there is an additional buyers premium of 28.8% inclusive of VAT to be paid on top of the hammer price. This buyers premium applies to all ways of bidding.
You can also bid through https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/wimbledon as well as https://www.easyliveauction.com/wimbledonauctions/ and https://drouot.com/en.
Bids through third party platforms may attract additional surcharges on the hammer price.
Telephone bids can be left on any lots with an estimate over £300.
We will call the bidder and relay their bids to the auctioneer during the bidding of the desired lot. Please respond quickly and clearly.
