A RARE CABINET COLLECTION OF MINERALS CIRCA 1810-1860, including labels for some very important names such as Matthew Forster Heddle (1828-1897), Robert Allan (1806-1863) and Gustav Rose (1798-1873), Dr Edward Turner (1796-1837) and a Mr Stewart 1850.

Approximately 64 specimens in total. Cabinets measure 91cm x 61cm

There are twelve Victorian labels dating as early as 1826:

1. Calc Spar from the Cairnsmore lead mine in Galloway - Mr Stewart 1850

Verso 'Andreasberg, Harz' and clearly signed 'Heddle' at the bottom. This could possibly be a specimen collected by Scottish Mineralogist Matthew Forster Heddle himself (1828-1897)
