An oil on canvas painting by British artist Charles Daniel Ward (1872-1935) has soared past its pre-sale estimate of £400-600 to take £7,500 (plus buyers premium 26.4%), and sold to a buyer on www.thesaleroom.com.

Wimbledon Auction's hosted its latest 'Arts and Antiques' auction on the 24/04/23. Lot 74 in this sale was 'A LARGE OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING OF A FIELD LANDSCAPE WITH FLOWERS' by British artist Charles Daniel Ward (1872-1935). Estimated at just £400-600, after a fierce online battle involving several bidders the painting soared past its pre-sale estimate to take a whopping £7,500 plus buyers premium. Selling to a buyer on www.thesaleroom.com, this is a fantastic result for a work by the artist. 

Charles Daniel Ward (British, 1872-1935) was born in Taunton, Somerset, UK, and studied at the Royal College of Art in London. He resided in Chelsea and Blewbury, Oxfordshire, where he painted portraits, landscapes, allegory scenes and still life compositions in oil. Ward exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1898 to 1932 as well as the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and worked by commission. Ward is represented in public collections that include the Dahesh Museum of Art, New York, the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, in Coventry, UK, Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, Somerset, UK. 

This large oil on canvas painting depicted blossoming flowers in a field, with a small house in the background. The bright and colourful landscape truly resonated the Spring season, that is now upon us here in Wimbledon.
